InternetGurus will offer a wide variety
of web development services. The following sections outline the type of
services the company will offer. Currently, eight different services have been
identified.
3.1 Service Descriptions
InternetGurus' services will be broad.
This will allow the company to offer a full range of services and maximize
client revenues. As the Internet's capabilities continue to expand, so does the
need for more comprehensive services. Follows are the service categories
InternetGurus will offer, along with examples/descriptions of the services
within each category:
1. Web Site Design - .HTML, .EPL,
and other languages.
2. Custom Programming Services -
Online surveys, pop-up windows, tracking systems.
3. CD-ROM Development - Product
catalogs, training CDs, multimedia presentations.
4. Database Design - Customer
databases, shopping carts, and product catalogs.
5. Project Management - Working
with customers to develop detailed work plans and oversee projects.
6. Quality Assurance & Testing
- Third party testing for internally developed systems as well as testing
systems developed for customers.
7. Network Management - System
design and maintenance (on-site or off-site).
8. Copywriting - Web pages,
brochures, packaging, direct mail campaigns.
3.2 Competitive Comparison
Duluth plays host to two full-service
advertising agencies and two dedicated web development companies. In comparison
to the services offered by InternetGurus, no other company compares.
Northern Communications and Duluth Media
Experts are two local advertising agencies. Each company offers basic web site
development services to its customers; however, both company's web expertise is
very limited. In fact, strategic alliance opportunities may exist with both
companies.
The two web development companies in
Duluth are Web Monkeys and Media Pros. Web Monkeys has two employees and Media
Pros has one. InternetGurus plans on hiring five full-time professionals (in
addition to Ms. Richards) to service the needs of its clients. The company will
offer more services and have more years of experience than all four Duluth
companies combined.
3.3 Research and Development
All InternetGurus employees will be experts in
their respective fields. However, with technology changing almost daily, these
individuals will need to hone their skills and receive sufficient continuing
education opportunities to remain on the leading edge of Internet technology
